"I had offers", the 26-year-old joins the Albanian national team

"Here I became a father, here I went from a young man to an adult. Rijeka is my second home, I also speak a little Croatian. I am leaving proudly, with my head held high, without regrets", these were the emotional words of Lindon Selah, as he is soon expected to be made official in Poland at Vidzev Lodz, where the Albanian national football player, Julian Shehu, also plays. One of Rijeka's most important players will now join his former coach, Zeljko Sopič.

He spent four years in Rijeka and said goodbye to the club and the fans with an emotional post on Instagram. After it was confirmed that he was leaving Rijeka, Selah recalled his time in the city: "I couldn't believe what was happening to me when I felt the tears start to flow as I was writing this. But that's how it is. That's how Rijeka is. Pure emotion. I became a father there, I went from being a young man to an adult there. Rijeka is my second home, I even speak a little Croatian. I'm leaving proud, with my head held high, without regrets. I can look everyone in the eye.

This is what I wanted and this is what I achieved. And I will return to my Rijeka. In the last round against Belupo, the fans were running onto the pitch, Rijeka was declared champion. It was total madness. They took my shirt off, we all danced, sang, they held me in their arms, lifted me on their shoulders. I was screaming with happiness because four years of sweat and effort have given the best possible result, all this comes out of me through those screams.

I hug this man who could be my father tightly, I push my head on his shoulder because I feel that even stronger emotions will burst out of me. And then we cry together from happiness and repeat: Champions, champions… Rijeka, champions! I saw it for the first time in my life. And what more can I tell you about the fans, about Armada, about Rijeka? This is love. Is there anything else to add?”, were the words of the midfielder.

Offers from Croatia - Selahi also spoke to "Novilist" about other offers from Croatia: "It's no secret that I've had offers from Croatian clubs. I listen to everything that's offered and then I realize that I'm wasting my time with myself and with those people, when I know very well that I wouldn't go to any other Croatian club, that in Croatia I can only play for Rijeka. Because this city and this country have become my home. I'm lucky that I have the privilege of having two homes and one is Rijeka.

I will follow every, but literally every match and everything about Rijeka. There is no way this is goodbye. See you later. Of course. I will be back. If not as a player, then as a fan. I have always given everything. Both when it worked and when it didn't work.

And the club has given me more than words can describe. I am leaving without regrets. With my head held high. Goodbye, Rijeka. Goodbye, Armada – concluded Selahi. The Albanian played 153 matches in four seasons, scored nine goals and assisted four times, but most importantly, he won the double crown with Rijeka and entered Rijeka's golden generation forever.
