The Albanian national team has played its matches at the “Arena Kombëtare” stadium in recent years. However, “Panorama Sport” learns that there is a possibility that the match with Serbia, scheduled for June 7, will be moved to the “Elbasan Arena”. At least that is what is being said in the corridors of the Albanian Football Association, but so far nothing has been confirmed.
Postponement - Between the past and the present, Albania should face Serbia on June 7, a match valid for Group K in the World Cup qualifiers. Knowing what happened years ago in Belgrade, such a match has a high risk of passing with incidents. Thus, in the corridors of the Federation there is talk of postponing this match to the “Elbasan Arena” and all this could be done for security reasons. Everything so far is in the range of rumors as nothing has been decided. The “Arena Kombëtare” stadium will be “Sold Out” for this match and the distance from the field is very close.
So, in the event of an emergency, fans would find it very easy to invade the field. This match is also important for the image of Albania, because an overcrowded stadium with police forces, which again does not guarantee anything, would not be something positive. However, knowing the distance to Elbasan, the fence and the track that the “Elbasan Arena” stadium has, perhaps it has been suggested that security can be better managed in that stadium. As we are less than two months away from the match day, it has not yet been decided where the match with Serbia will be played, in Tirana or Elbasan. Also, tickets have not yet gone on sale to the public.
