The government remembers sports, introduces 4 new stadiums and sports academies

Over the last decade, sport has transformed from a neglected sector into a pillar of social and health development, with investments in infrastructure and increased opportunities for children and young people.

The Albanian government has invested in the construction of 150 sports fields in schools and communities, while stadiums such as "Air Albania", "Elbasan Arena", in Shkodër and Kukës meet FIFA/UEFA standards.

Also, the school sports team program has been a success story and it is anticipated that the expansion in the number of disciplines and annual investments in infrastructure will continue, to increase the participation of children and youth in sports activities.

In sectoral policy, sport is treated as an essential part of education, health and social culture.

The 2025-2029 government program envisages strengthening sport as a horizontal public policy for health, education and social cohesion, increasing mass participation, developing talent with sports infrastructure and conditions of international standards and guaranteeing equal inclusion, including adapted infrastructure for people with disabilities.

This program foresees the construction of 4 new stadiums in Tirana, Durrës, Korça and Vlora, with unified standards for professional sports.

It also aims to establish sports academies based on the best international models of Manchester City, Rafael Nadal and the NBA for the discovery and development of talents.

Investment is foreseen in the construction of 200 new gyms and sports fields in schools, guaranteeing equal access for every student to modern spaces for education and physical activity.

The national program "Sports Teams in Schools" will also be expanded with new sports disciplines, activating more than 20 thousand students in schools.

It also envisages the creation of the Albanian National Paralympic Committee and the Albanian Special Olympics, as well as increased support for elite athletes and federations, for preparation in international competitions.

It also aims to build infrastructure adapted for people with disabilities, enabling representation in the Special Olympics and Paralympics.

The program states that Albania will welcome more and more international sporting events, transforming into a regional sports center.

These commitments will have a direct impact on promoting the country's economic, touristic and cultural potential, placing Albania on the map for organizing major sporting events./ ATSH
