Roma strengthened their hold on fourth place in Serie A after a convincing 3-0 win over Cremonese in the 26th week of the Italian championship. The team led by coach Gian Piero Gasperini did the job at the Olimpico, moving 4 points clear of fifth-placed Juventus and level on points with third-placed Napoli, both with 50 points.
The first half ended goalless (0-0), with Roma dominating possession and having a golden opportunity in the 35th minute: a header by Gianluca Mancini was stopped by the crossbar, keeping the score level.
After the break, the yellows started strongly. In the 59th minute, Bryan Cristante scored the first goal by beating goalkeeper Emil Audero with a header after a set piece situation, establishing the 1-0 advantage. In the 77th minute, the second goal came: again Cristante assisted, this time for Evan Ndicka, who with a precise shot brought the score to 2-0.
The victory was sealed in the 86th minute by Niccolò Pisilli, who scored the third goal after a beautiful team action, securing the full three points and giving Roma an important inspiration in the race for the Champions League places.
