Claudio Ranieri is no longer part of Roma in the role of senior advisor to owners "Friedkin", prematurely ending a deal that lasted until June 2027. The decision comes after ongoing tensions within the club, particularly with coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
Although the management had previously expressed confidence in Ranieri, the relationship deteriorated after his public statements on the transfer market and technical choices, which were opposed by Gasperini. The latter reacted publicly, describing the situation as inappropriate for the fans.
The clash between Ranieri and Gasperini is considered the culmination of a tense relationship that the club's leaders have failed to resolve. Following Ranieri's departure, the future of sporting director Frederic Massara remains in question, who is also reported to have had a falling out with the coach.
In this situation, the owners have chosen to support Gasperini, giving him the confidence to continue the team's sporting project.
In a press conference, the coach stressed that the club has always been by his side and that Roma remains the priority. He expressed surprise at Ranieri's statements, denying any involvement in the conflict and demanding that the focus return to football.
Gasperini added that he does not want to be part of the controversy and that he intends to focus solely on preparing the team for the upcoming matches.
In terms of sport, Roma is aiming for a Champions League spot, a goal that remains difficult to achieve, as Juventus holds fourth place with a 5-point gap. The remaining matches, including the away match against Bologna, are expected to be decisive.
As for the team, Paulo Dybala has returned to training, but is not expected to start in the next match. The coach left open the possibility of his activation during the game, while emphasizing his importance for the final phase of the season.
