Cristiano Ronaldo is believed to have asked Al-Nasr to sign Casemiro from Manchester United and the move could be a deciding factor in determining his future. The Portugal icon is in the final six months of his £175million-a-year contract with the Saudi club and is considering a move elsewhere.
He and Casemiro won 12 trophies together at Real Madrid, including four Champions Leagues and two La Liga titles, while they also reunited at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag. The pair are close friends and the transfer could be simpler, considering United are open to selling the Brazilian due to his £350,000-a-week wages. However, Mail Sport reported last week that other Saudi sides Al-Qadsiah and Al-Itihad are also interested in the 32-year-old midfielder.
Marca reports that a move to MLS is a possible option for Ronaldo, who is now 39 years old. A move to America has been an attractive option for some of the world's greatest players, including Pele, Beckenbauer and Lionel Messi. Ronaldo's former teammate at "Old Trafford", Wes Brown, has urged the striker to go to the USA. "Ronaldo should go to America, especially considering Messi is there too," he told The Sports Daily.
Al-Nasr chiefs are optimistic they can keep Cristiano and a potential transfer for Casemiro would be a boost to their hopes of keeping the Portuguese star. Like other sports stars lured by the Saudis, Ronaldo has become involved in the country's footballing aspirations. He is an ambassador for the Saudi Arabia 2032 World Cup, and he recently said he is confident it will be the best World Cup ever.
