Aleksandar Mitrovic's heart has suffered a sudden and worrying disorder: his cardiac rhythm has registered an unusual arrhythmia, a condition that has prompted his club (Al-Hilal) to take action and hospitalise him for medical checks. The situation appears to be under control and the dysfunction is thought to have been caused by stress and fatigue, but the player will not return to training and the pitch without first receiving the approval of his doctors. For this reason, the club intends to manage the matter very carefully, while a clearer assessment is awaited on the duration of the Serbian striker's absence: whether he will be able to return soon or whether he will need a longer break.
Mitrovic had tasted the thrill of competition again last Friday, when he returned to the field (and even scored) in the win over Al-Fajha in the Saudi Pro League. He had returned from a knee tendon injury that had kept him out since January 7, when he was injured in the domestic cup quarter-final against Al-Ittihad. Initially, his recovery was estimated to take three weeks, but the return time was extended (it took two months to fully recover), without many other details being given on his condition.
Al-Hilal's statement
The official statement from the Saudi club gave some details about Mitrovic's concern from the beginning, mentioning the arrhythmia that is not related to any specific disease, but to a situation of fatigue: "He remains under the observation of specialists and his case will be constantly monitored."
A big loss for Serbia
His absence before the start of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers is a heavy blow for Serbia, which has the striker as one of its strongest points. It is enough to take a look at the numbers to understand his importance for the offensive department: in the championship with Al-Hilal he has scored 13 goals in 14 matches, although he has missed about ten matches due to injury; numbers that become more important if we refer to the overall performance of the season, 25 goals in 21 matches, including the Asian Champions League (5 goals in 6 matches).
