A group of lawyers, hired by a Ukrainian activist, who remains anonymous at the moment, have formally asked the British government to reveal the steps it has taken in the investigations into the owner of Manchester City, Sheikh Mansur bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He is accused of helping Russian oligarchs move their assets to the United Arab Emirates at a time when Great Britain had imposed sanctions on them.
The lawyers in question have written to the Foreign Secretary, James Cleverley, to indicate whether sufficient investigations have been carried out into Sheikh Mansour, who is also the deputy prime minister in the United Arab Emirates, and to determine whether he too should be is subject to sanctions if such a thing is proved, writes "Panorama Sport".
If the British side starts the procedure for sanctioning Sheikh Mansur, then he will be forced to give up ownership of Manchester City, as Roman Abramovich did with Chelsea a year ago. The Premier League has changed the regulation on the ownership of clubs and any person who, directly or indirectly, is assessed by the English government as a collaborator in the conflict in Ukraine, has no right to be the owner of the clubs. The lawyers this time have written directly to the government, based on the fact that Sheikh Mansur is a distinctive figure for English football, as the owner of the most successful club in recent years in Great Britain.
It is not known what consequences this may have for the Dinamo club, which has a cooperation agreement with the British and has based the new project on this. The departure from Manchester City of the sheikhs of the United Arab Emirates would undoubtedly bring a heavy blow to the group that manages "City Group" and its sports project for the future throughout the globe, therefore also to the Albanian club, Dinamo.
