The president of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka, has spoken about the criticisms that have been made against him, regarding the organization of the U-21 European Championship.
Although Duka has been criticized for this championship, due to the cooperation with the Serbian federation, he said that the focus should be on sports benefits.
In addition, the president of the ALF explained that despite previous conflicts with Serbia, priority should be given to peace with the Serbian state and strengthening of relations.
"Obviously I heard them. If I have to recall why we decided to hold an event, we decided to hold an Albanian championship for the first time in its history and cooperate with the Serbian federation. It was one more opportunity to have such a championship, which otherwise would have been impossible. Let's judge it in the positive light. It is better that we have done nothing in Albania or we should have a European champion in Albania. So from this point of view, since we have sports benefits, but also political benefits, where I initially started from the sports benefits, with the likelihood that this sports championship will be approved, messages of peace and cooperation are given. I think we care. Despite the fact that we cannot forget what happened before, we are more interested," Duka told Euronews.
