At 18:00, Friday afternoon, Albania will face Moldova at "Zimbru Stadium".
It can be said that we are practically qualified for next summer's European, it just lacks officialization, as we are in first place in group E, with 13 points and only 1 point from the last 2 qualifying games is enough to seal everything.
However, again the challenge with Moldova is expected to be quite problematic, with the technician Sergei Kleschenko, who promises a "fight", since Moldova, for the first time in its history, has a concrete opportunity to qualify for the group stage of a competition major.
From the press conference on the eve of the confrontation with our "legionarians", technician Kleschenko emphasized that Albania is the surprise of their group and according to him great credit goes to coach Silvinjo, while he emphasized that the main goal of Moldova is to get points in any form which he needs in the remaining two games.
What are your and the team's goals in the last two games and how do you plan to achieve them to ensure qualification to "EURO 2024"?
Let's face it, how many of us thought we'd make it higher than last place? Objectively, I also had reasons, because analyzing the opposing teams, I found that we have never, or almost never, won against them. The last two matches with the Faroe Islands showed us that it was not easy, one match ended in a draw, the other we won with great difficulty. So yes. To say we were optimistic would be a lie, but the boys did it. They formed a united team and understood why we came together. The players realized that they are not only on the field for themselves, but also for their country, their families and friends who do not want to disappoint.
What strategies do you use to motivate the players to face the pressure of the last two matches of the "EURO 2024" qualifiers?
Our strategy remains constant, regardless of the match. We rely on courage to face any challenge, aggressiveness in attack and confidence in our defensive abilities. This is the essence of our philosophy in the match. We only have 2-3 days to prepare, but we focus on carefully analyzing each opponent, so that each player understands who he is facing on the field and adapts to his strengths.
What do you expect Albania to bring to this match and how are you preparing to counter their tactics and strategy?
Albania, from the risk of being left out, became the favorite of our group. It is a surprise, but this is the credit of their coach, who has a very good experience behind him. One of their strengths, like ours, is the cohesion of their national team. I have noticed that they have kept a consistent lineup in recent games with only one or two changes. They are a southern team, which means they are used to playing and holding the ball. They are technical and fast.
