The president of the Football Federation of North Macedonia, Muhamed Sejdini, was physically attacked on Friday by several masked people. The Federation of this country has reacted by writing that this act of violence is unacceptable and the appropriate punishment should be given.
The complete reaction of the Federation of North Macedonia:
The Football Federation of Macedonia strongly condemns the cowardly and shameful attack on our president, Muamed Sejdini, who was physically attacked last night in the presence of a friend in the parking lot of a restaurant in Skopje.
This act of violence is unacceptable and constitutes a direct blow to the values of football, sport and democracy in general.
We emphasize clearly and unequivocally that the Football Federation of Macedonia will not allow violence to become a tool for influence or for solving any challenge. The election of leaders in the FFM takes place exclusively through legal and democratic procedures, with the votes of the delegates, and not through threats and violence. Those who try to disrupt this process through force should be aware that their actions have already been identified and that we are cooperating with the justice institutions to fully illuminate this incident.
We call on the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as all competent bodies, to take urgent measures and investigate the case to the end, so that the perpetrators can be brought to justice.
We have also informed the leaders of UEFA and FIFA about this incident.
The president of the FFM remains steadfast in the face of such threats and pressures. They do not weaken his resolve, on the contrary, they strengthen his commitment to integrity and transparency in sport. Muamed Sejdini was elected to this position legally, with the votes of the delegates, and only in the same way will he finish or continue his mandate. Violence will never be the means to determine his presence or absence.
The Football Federation of Macedonia remains committed to promoting sports values, fair play and respect for institutions .
