This is what a close friend of the Manchester City coach claims, who during an interview with "MailOnline" revealed the behind-the-scenes details of the divorce:
" I think they drifted apart. She left Manchester about five years ago to return to Barcelona. That has taken its toll. He is obsessed with work and not being involved in their family fashion business together may have also affected their relationship ."
On Tuesday, Spanish media reported that Guardiola and his wife Cristina Serra have decided to divorce after 30 years together. The couple, who first met in 1994 and married in 2014 in a small, private ceremony in Barcelona, have reportedly had a falling out in recent times, largely due to the City manager's career in different countries in recent years.
They have three children together: Maria, 24, Marius 22, and Valentina, 17. Serra, who is a Brazilian journalist by profession and currently lives with her little daughter, Valentina, in Barcelona, while Guardiola lives in Manchester, has been the Catalan coach's main support on his journey until the distance became unbearable for him.
