Faced with an increase in the number of matches in recent years, UEFA announced that it was looking for 40,000 referees. The football government announced this Friday the launch of a recruitment campaign, which aims to increase the "black jackets".

" Currently there is a need for around 277,000 officials in European football, but there are around 40,000 referees missing to have enough to guarantee the smooth running of the game at local level.

This is why UEFA has decided to invest in a program that helps the various federations to recruit and retain young referees, seeing this move as essential for football on the old Continent ," said UEFA's announcement.
