
UEFA has confirmed that it has appointed an inspector to investigate the incident between Vinicius Junior and Gianluca Prestigioni during the Champions League match between Benfica and Real Madrid. The Brazilian footballer of “Los Blancos” claimed that he was insulted with racist terms by his opponent.
According to the official announcement, the investigation will aim to clarify the circumstances of the event and verify the allegations raised during the meeting.

The Portuguese club reacted through an official statement, expressing its readiness for full cooperation with UEFA and emphasizing its commitment to the values of equality and respect.
" Benfica expresses its willingness for cooperation, transparency and clarification for UEFA's investigation into the alleged case of racism during the match with Real Madrid and clearly confirms its historical commitment to defending the values of equality, respect and inclusion. Benfica believes in the version given by Gianluca Prestiani and condemns the campaign of defamation of which the footballer became the victim ," the statement from the Lusitanian club reads.

Meanwhile, Prestiani has denied accusations of racist insults towards Vinicius Jr., contradicting the claims made by the Real Madrid player.
