It has been more than 11 years since Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher suffered a tragic skiing accident in December 2013. Since then, he has not appeared in public and his health condition remains a mystery.
According to German RTL journalist Felix Gorner, who is considered a reliable source on Schumacher's situation, he can no longer communicate verbally and is completely dependent on his caregivers.
" The situation is very sad, he needs constant care and can no longer express himself in words ," he added.
Schumacher, now 56, is being cared for by his family and a medical team at his home near Lake Geneva. The family has always maintained a strict stance on the Formula 1 legend's privacy, limiting access to him to a small group of people.
" Only about 20 people can get close to Schumacher ," Gorner added. " And I think it's the right strategy, because the family is acting in his best interest ," he underlined.
Mick Schumacher, his son, has followed in his father's footsteps in Formula 1, racing for Haas in 2021 and 2022, but left the team for the 2023 season.
Meanwhile, Elisabeta Gregoraci, Flavio Briatore's ex-wife, has previously revealed that Schumacher only communicates with his eyes. "Michael doesn't speak, he communicates with his eyes. Only three people can visit him and I know who they are," she said.
Even in the Netflix documentary on Schumacher's life, his wife Corina described him as "different."
Despite the years that have passed, the F1 legend remains an iconic figure, with 7 world titles, 71 fastest laps and 155 podiums in his remarkable career.
