A strong earthquake shook the country shortly after midnight. The first data show that the earthquake with its epicenter in the Adriatic Sea had a magnitude of 4.6.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Adriatic Sea, 48 km from Tirana and 35 km from Durrës. The tremors of the earthquake at 02:42 were strong and were felt not only in Durrës and Tirana, but also in other cities such as Lezhë and Shkodër.
The European Center of Seismology reports that the earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale was registered at 02:42 on Wednesday with an epicenter in the Adriatic Sea, 37 km from Durrës. According to EMSC, the depth of the earthquake was 12.2 km.
Many residents of these areas have woken up terrified and some of them have commented on the website of the European Center of Seismology. "Shake it well"; "Terrible", wrote two residents from Durrës.
"In Lalz, I felt a lot," writes another. "Scary! On the 10th floor in Shengjin and it was terrible," writes someone else.
Meanwhile, the first strong earthquake was accompanied by two aftershocks, one 2.6 and the other 2.2 on the Richter scale.
Fortunately, so far there have been no reports of injuries or material damage in the areas where the earthquake was felt the most.
