The works for the expansion of the Tirana - Durrës highway are expected to last 19 months from the moment of signing the contract with the company that will carry out the works.
In the tender opened by the Albanian Road Authority for the first phase of the project, it is specified that the first period of works includes the erosion, demolition of the existing concrete, as well as the construction of works of art that include culverts or drainage, while asphalting will start in the month 11th of works. At the same time, it is specified that after the expansion of the highway, the speed allowed for the circulation of vehicles will be 90-140 km/h.
The tender opened by ARRSH includes the first phase and has a limited fund of ALL 1.66 billion, while the interested companies will have one month to submit their offers.
The start of works for the expansion of this road segment has been announced earlier by the Albanian authorities, who have also informed that the highway will be increased by 2 lanes in each direction of movement, making the total reach 8 lanes.
The widening works will initially cover the first 5 km of the highway. At the same time, the tender for the reconstruction of the old Kombinat - Ndroq - Plepa road, which also leads to Durrës, has been opened.
The limit fund for the construction of the first lot of this road is about ALL 755 million. The intervention in these 2 road axes is intended to bring an improvement in terms of traffic, which currently presents numerous problems./ ScanTv
