The appointment of Vangjel Tavos as Prefect of Vlora brought a tense situation to the municipal council meeting for the appointment of the Mayor of Himara. Researcher Ardit Bido says that the people who attacked Tavo in the council are people from Beleri, encouraged by Greek neo-Nazi circles.

The second attempt was made in Athens in the Peristeri neighborhood on March 13, 2001 in a tavern where Tavo, a candidate for SP deputy in Dropull, was holding an electoral meeting, but again Mavi retreated by throwing a bomb in a deserted place, as there were children nearby. accompanied by parents.
The recent appointment of Vangjel Tavo as prefect of Vlora brought an aggravated situation in what was expected to be a formal meeting of the municipal council for the appointment of the new leader of the municipality of Himara, now that two mayors, Fredi Beleri and after him, Jorgo Goro, are in the cell, one sentenced to 2 years in prison for buying votes and the socialist, in custody for abuse of office in the alienation of 2 properties in Himare.

Despite the tension, the councilors gave 15 votes in favor, including those of the opposition, and only 4 against, for the deputy mayor of the municipality, Blerina Bala, as acting mayor.
Prime Minister Edi Rama described the tensions in the Municipal Council as a primitive quarrel, which is fueled by accounts that have nothing to do with the interests of Himara.
The same Vangjel Tavo himself considered the scenes of a group for small interests and announced the start of work on the mortgage of properties in Himare.
On April 10, 1994, at the border post in Peshkepi of Himara, 2 Albanian soldiers were executed and 3 others were injured by the attack of a commando of Greek nationalists. Behind this attack was the Greek terrorist organization "Mavi" in which Fredi Beleri was also a member. / Report TV
