After the serious event that happened yesterday in Korça, where the 35-year-old woman was burned with gasoline by her ex-husband, the Minister of the Interior, Ervin Hoxha, reacted.
Hoxha said that the act of the 45-year-old towards his ex-wife is unacceptable.
He emphasized that in addition to the reaction of the institutions, solidarity and sensitization of our society is also needed.
Hoxha called on the citizens to denounce every case of violence and expressed his support for the people who fall victim to violence.
Meanwhile, the minister wished a speedy recovery to the young woman who was burned with gasoline by her ex-husband.
"The serious incident that happened yesterday in Korça, where a husband in the process of divorce tried to burn his wife with gasoline, is an unacceptable act that reminds us that domestic violence is still a problem that cannot be ignored and that requires immediate reaction from the responsible institutions and from the whole society.
Such events are a serious violation of human rights and a strong appeal to provide stronger protection for all those who suffer from domestic violence, especially for minors, girls and women.
I am convinced that, in order to prevent and treat such cases, not only the reaction of the relevant institutions is enough, but also the solidarity and awareness of our society, so that no one is subjected to such unacceptable treatment, as the case of Korça.
Therefore, I call on citizens to report any case of domestic violence and to cooperate with the authorities, to ensure that those who commit these acts face the consequences of their actions, just as the author will face yesterday's event!
As Minister of the Interior, I express my greatest support for victims of domestic violence and my commitment to work tirelessly for a society where everyone feels safe and respected.
Wishing a speedy recovery to the lady - a victim of domestic violence yesterday in Korça - I express my commitment to strengthen the proper protection and support mechanisms for victims like her, and I invite other responsible institutions to act quickly and in accordance with the policies of our government for the fight against domestic violence", declared Hoxha.
