Mafia assassinations, revenge, momentary conflicts, and people who kill and circulate armed, without fear of the state and the legal consequences that such acts may bring.
In just the first 26 days of 2025, at least 4 mafia assassinations have been recorded, leaving behind 4 victims from north to south. A fifth case was recorded in Vlora this evening, where a 29-year-old man was seriously injured by a hail of bullets and is in hospital in serious condition.
Just two days ago, another assassination attempt, suspected of revenge, occurred in Kamzë, where a 48-year-old man was killed inside his vehicle, on his way to work. Other cases, such as the murder of businessman Bujar Nasufi in Tirana or the execution of young man Kristjan Marku on the Fier-Vlora highway, near the village of Novoselë, significantly increase the feeling of insecurity in the country, because such assassination attempts are carried out in open and busy environments, endangering the lives of innocent people.
These are just the major cases that have captured the attention of the media due to the nature of the execution and the fatalities, but beyond these cases, there are countless incidents in Albania where gunshot wounds occur, for the most banal of reasons.
Regardless of any motive, these cases show that in our society certain people are not afraid to walk around armed, and that they are not even concerned about the consequences of using them. To prove this, it is enough to see the "Blic" actions and checks that the police carry out in various cities in the country, there are always at least 2-3 cases where people are caught in possession of firearms that are freely circulating.
But why does this happen?
In this case, there are several explanations, firstly; most likely the numerous cases made public in the media, where people accused of murder, injury or illegal possession of weapons, face a corrupt justice system and get away with it by receiving ridiculous sentences or using medical tricks to avoid the maximum sentence, have influenced the spread of this phenomenon in our society.
Secondly; it would be the very weak reaction of the police and their "inability" to prevent and tighten controls and keep under surveillance some problematic areas and people. However, in both of the above-mentioned cases, it seems that the problem started from the top of the hierarchy. Not to mention here cases and people who have connections to power or influential criminal groups, who are untouchable by the police and justice.
Not to spread panic or bring fear to citizens, but the situation seems out of control. In the past year, 42 criminal events have been recorded, resulting in a total of 57 victims, including innocent citizens killed accidentally as a result of clashes between criminal groups. Not to mention the cases of injuries that are not included in this total.
To avoid ending up like the sad year of 1997, urgent measures must be taken to prevent greater disasters, otherwise the future remains uncertain./ Pamphlet
