The Special Anti-Corruption Court has rejected the request of former Deputy Minister of Health, Klodian Rrjepaj, to replace the security measure 'arrest with imprisonment'.
The request was considered during a closed-door session, where the defense attorney presented a medical record showing that his client suffers from several health problems, including diabetes.
Despite this, Judge Bin Ndreca, after withdrawing his decision, dismissed the request, leaving in effect the arrest measure for Rrjepaj, one of the defendants in the sterilization case.
Meanwhile, a hearing for the defense of the defendants separated by Ilir Beqaj was expected to take place today, but it was postponed due to the absence of lawyers Naile Ajazi and Arben Gjata. The court has decided that the next hearing will be held on January 21, at 12:00.
Rrjepaj is one of the key figures involved in the sterilization concession scheme, one of the largest health affairs, for which a number of senior officials and former public officials are being investigated.
