The State Police yesterday carried out controls in the MEK camp in Manza, Durrës, as it is suspected that members of the Iranian opposition sheltering there were carrying out cyber attacks against other countries.
Regarding this, the expert of criminalistics, Ervin Karamuço, said that the members of the MEK camp had the Iranian government as the object of the cyber attacks, while according to him, so far there is no talk of other countries.
Karamuço said that this situation was also a topic of discussion at the meeting of the National Security Council, which was called a few days ago by President Bajram Begaj.
"SPAK has competence in relation to criminal offenses also in the field of terrorism. There have been suspicions of terrorist crimes linked to the attacks. It was the government of Iran that threatened us if the cyber attacks from Albania based in Manza continue. What we have also verified with partner institutions, has been that it is suspected that there may be a group that organizes such acts not only for Albania, but also with interests that can indirectly harm Albanian citizens. What we are going to do has been a topic of discussion in the National Council.
Every Albanian citizen or foreigner residing in the territory of the Albanian Republic, with temporary or permanent residence are part of our criminal subject and are treated equally. Today's intervention paved the way for the implementation of a court decision, of a legal procedure that is based on the prevention of further attacks and to hold accountable the perpetrators who may have organized attacks before. It is Iran. I am not aware of other states at the moment," he said in an interview with the media.
