Artan Hoxha says that the great alliance created after the murder of Ervis Martinaj has started to break up due to disagreements between criminals and the effects of this will be seen in the future.
Invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, Hoxha said that many exponents of organized crime have left the country, while those who continue to stay are hiding and waiting.
"Albania had 42 murders in 2022, until the month of August. Mafia type murders intensified among them. From August 9, when Ervis Martinaj disappeared, was kidnapped and killed, was not found, two more murders took place until December. And the following year, 2023, it went from 44 murders to 34 murders. So in itself the balance of assassinations shows what is happening on the ground.
What happened after the incident with Martinaj? A big alliance of some criminal groups, also from those we see in SPAK, but that SPAK is limited because EncroChat and later SKY, are until March 2021. I'm talking about 2022 and 2023. SKY gives us an overview from July 2019 to March 2021. Therefore, there are only preparations for the murders.
I don't need to wait for SPAK or the police to give it to me, because this is information that I have to get and find on my own. Today in Albania, that's why he insists, that I removed the political part, because you can't stop the government from using an event. The alliance of several large groups, to eliminate Ervis Martinaj, created a situation of some calm.
Secondly, what SPAK did was another factor, it made them flee from Albania, they also took their families, they also took their grandfather and grandmother, they are no longer here.
Those who remained, withdrew, are in the shadows. We know they are here, the police know they are here too.
At this moment in Albania, has organized crime been annihilated? No, it has gone to another stage. As they adapted during the time of Covid, they are adapting now. Have there been any events during this time? Yes, there have been outside Albania, because they have continued.
They no longer operate in Albania, but in 3-4 continents. Do they have influence in Albania? Of course. If the price of cocaine goes to historical lows, it means that the market is full. So the rest continues, we have created a pretty big market.
Does construction continue in this place? Where does that money come from?
What has not come out, until now, due to an asterisk that has material, which is said to be used only for drug trafficking, but there are communications for tenders, public works, definitely. It is decided by the prosecution.
Are they in there? Yes. Since that material has arrived, it has come with an asterix, which should only be used for drug trafficking. You have to cross-check the rest with other evidence.
We have to be ready and work out a new strategy, when there is another situation... The great alliance that was created by this whole thing is starting to crumble, because they are territorial animals. They are unhappy when they see that their partner or rival is making more money. They definitely don't feel good and want the situation to change.
When we pick up the corpses again, we will see that the pact has been broken.
Is Albania a safer country? Security is divided into two elements, street crime, which citizens and tourists feel, and organized crime. Albania has a big problem with organized crime. On the other hand, with ordinary crime, the situation has improved for many factors, also due to the reaction of society. Today you can move anywhere in Albania at any hour of the day. I'm coming from the USA, in one week in Detroit four police officers were killed. There is no news like we get all the time. This is a problem of street crime", said Hoxha.
