Residents affected by the TID project in Durrës have announced the holding of a civic protest tomorrow, in front of the Durrës Municipality. The residents demand transparency on the implementation of the project, institutional accountability and guarantee of property rights. They state that the process is taking place without full consultation with the community and without clear information about the concrete solutions that affect the families.
During the rally, protesters will publicly ask the City Council several questions regarding the procedures, decision-making, and effects of the project. They are demanding the suspension of current decisions, the opening of discussions with the community, and the establishment of an investigative commission for the process.

The organizers describe the TID project as an intervention that, according to them, risks leading to the displacement of residents from their properties rather than urban development. They demand concrete answers to the issues of expropriation and compensation.
We recall that on February 14, 2026, Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting with residents affected by the TID project in Durrës. After the meeting, he stated that the project will not be stopped. Rama identified two main issues: the status of housing that is claimed to be part of the cultural heritage and the problem of unregistered mortgaged properties. He also confirmed that the government is considering the issue of expropriations and compensation based on reference prices.
