Prime Minister Edi Rama yesterday asked SPAK to launch an investigation into the privatization of four hydropower plants during the Sali Berisha government.
He stated that if the Special Prosecution Office wants to fight corruption, it should investigate the privatization of the hydropower plants: Shkopet Hydropower Plant, Ulza Hydropower Plant, Bistrica 1 and Bistrica 2 Hydropower Plants.
Journalist Fatos Mahmutaj, invited to "Ora e Fundit", stated that the privatization of the hydropower plants took place in 2013, a time that coincides with the loss of the Democratic Party in the elections. He said that these hydropower plants were given to close people and businessmen who are close to the family of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
"It's about the privatization of the first four hydropower plants, which Berisha did at the end of his mandate. In 2013, when Berisha lost the elections, his government decided to privatize them, giving them to people close to his family, his favorite businessmen ," he said.
According to the journalist, Prime Minister Edi Rama rightly asks SPAK to investigate these acts and prove the abuses. Further, Mahmutaju states that Sali Berisha should have been in prison for a long time, as he is the person who has committed all the serious criminal acts.
"Prime Minister Rama rightly demands that the sweat, blood, and property of Albanians cannot be used and cannot be thrown in this form into the pockets of Berisha's businessmen. The Prime Minister rightly demands an investigation. SPAK is captured by Berisha's family. Berisha has been charged with murder, theft, and blackmail."
