Analyst Ergys Mërtiri commented on political developments after the last elections.
Mërtiri emphasized that the elections definitively showed that figures like Lulzim Basha and Enkelejd Alibeaj are out of the game and are no longer considered protagonists.
"No one believed that Basha or Alibeaj would be a force that could one day come to power, and of course the electorate is no longer inclined to vote because they do not promise to come to power one day. This was definitely a dramatic result for them ," he told "Report TV".
But according to the analyst, Berisha does not emerge legitimized from this process either; on the contrary, he failed to emerge as a credible governing force.
"On the other hand, the fact that Basha and Alibeaj turned out badly does not justify or legitimize Berisha at all, who certainly turned out dramatically badly. Berisha had an opposition force that should have been a governing force and did not appear as such. He appeared as a force that, with all the adjustments, with all the electoral fraud that was done, like 'America is with us', 'La Civita has arrived', 'Trump is not with Rama'. So all of this created the perception that Berisha is now the governing alternative and that he is already against Rama, and that he is the man who could potentially defeat Rama", said Mërtiri.
He further added that Berisha is far from being a real rival for Edi Rama.
"In fact, he has half of Rama's votes. Rama has half of the votes that Berisha received. In this sense, the result is such that he is far and away out of the race to be a rival to Rama. Even as such, he has dismantled the opposition," the analyst concluded.
