This is the view of the paint factory that was engulfed in flames yesterday evening, on the Tirana-Durres highway near Maminas.
As can be seen from the footage, the damage is extensive, with parts of the factory completely gutted.
The causes of the fire that engulfed Deutsch Color are not yet known. According to the prefect of the district Emilian Jani, keeping the situation under monitoring will continue and in parallel it is expected that the investigations will clarify the causes of the fire that raised the highest structures of the country due to the danger posed by the spread of the flames in another business nearby where there were significant amounts of gas.
Two firefighting teams continue to be present in the area as the remains of the factory are occasionally reactivated. The police are also at the scene.
Last night until the early hours of the morning, 17 fire engines, over 65 members of the fire service from Durrës, Tirana and nearby districts, members of the local police and FNSH were involved in the operation to contain the flames and extinguish them in a difficult terrain due to the combustible materials of the factory, which were accompanied by occasional explosions.
