Contradictions in attitudes, when did the verification of candidates for BKH actually begin?
There is no longer any doubt that the head of the National Bureau of Investigation is being deliberately held hostage. On September 1, Aida Hajnaj was relieved of her duties, but the BKH, even after 2 months, still does not have a leader.
After the physical tests, written test and polygraph, 7 candidates remained in the race: Andi Pogaçe, Artur Beu, Elton Kërluku, Gentian Ndoi, Gentjan Shehaj, Gledis Nano and Joni Keta.
But with each passing day, it becomes even clearer that a very dirty game is being played behind the scenes, for both the head of BKH and the head of SPAK. And the protagonist seems to be Altin Dumani himself, who is seeking to put his loyalists in these two positions.
But what really happened? The argument that has been used all these months about the stalling of the process has been that it is taking time to collect documents to verify the identity and assets of the 7 candidates in the race.
But if we look at the official reactions of SPAK and the movements within the prosecution, it seems that things do not match. On October 3, the news was spread in the media that the Special Commission for the Verification of the Assets and Character of Candidates had been convened to begin the verification of candidates. The news was initially reported by two of the national televisions in the country, "Top Channel" and "TV Klan". And in fact, that day there was a meeting and the documents were opened. The meeting was later covered by "Pamfleti".
But SPAK a day ago made the requests and responses public in the framework of transparency. And on September 15, SPAK returned this response to a request: " In response to your request, recorded on 2.9.2025, we inform you as follows: The Special Commission for the Verification of the Assets and Character of Candidates, based on point 6 of Article 6 (Law 95/2016), has received the documentation and has started the verification of the assets and character of the candidates ."
So, SPAK officially announces that it has had the documents and has started the verifications since the beginning of September. Meanwhile, after 1 month, news comes out that the commission has convened and the verifications have started. So, the question arises: when did the vetting of the character and assets for the 7 candidates actually start?
What makes it even more difficult is that today is October 25th and there is no data on this process, while SPAK itself admitted in September that they had the documents and had started work.
What makes it more difficult is that the 7 final candidates were determined at the end of June. So, over 4 months have passed and the vetting has not yet been completed, while the name that should go to the KLP will then be selected and in the end it will be the latter that will make the appointment.
There is talk under the rug that there are strong clashes between the 3 members of the commission that dealt with the process of selecting the head of the BKH, and this led to the dismissal of Arben Kraja as head of Foreign Relations. Meanwhile, the BKH is currently led by the vice-president, Joni Keta, who is also running for president.
The head of SPAK and the deputy head of BKH have good relations between them and, it seems, Dumani will not let any obstacles stand in his way these months, since so far Hajnaj has not allowed him to do whatever he wants. There is also talk that Dumani is trying to place a trusted person there and has not yet secured the votes. Also, evil mouths say that he has entered the middle of politics. In any case, the facts prove that something dirty is being played. /Pamphlet
