The specialist in the Directorate of Prisons, Anila Paci, testified today in the trial for the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, regarding the testimony of his penalty.

"I was asked a few months ago by the Special Prosecutor's Office about the evidence of Beler's criminal record. I gave evidence before BKH agents. State institutions have access to court records, to see if a citizen is convicted or not. In case a person is convicted, the prosecution in this case sends a request for his history. The document is printed only if a person is not convicted. The prosecution does not have access to print the conviction. The data is made available by us. In the Beleri case, in the register of the judicial situation results in "Rehabilitated". I, as a specialist, for individual requests from Albania" deactivate the system when it results in "Convicted" and give it "Not convicted".
The Prosecutor's Office of Vlora has the right to access the system. Prosecution offices only see whether a person is convicted or not convicted, but do not have access to other data. The lawyers objected to the testimony, but prosecutor Dorina Bejko said that there can be no objection "as long as Peci's testimony was taken in the context of a report made by Beleri himself for falsification of documents".
