Albana Koçiu, Minister of Interior, justified the police's behavior against the protesters from the Parliament hall on the afternoon of January 24, while emphasizing that the crowd dispersed after the lives of law enforcement officers were endangered.

Koçiu did not comment on the fact that expired tear gas was thrown at the protesters, while he considered it a normal action to accompany a minor child to the police station.

"The police carried out their duty meticulously. The police did not use violence against the protesters, what happened was that the police were confronted with violence, during the rally called by the opposition, the police were attacked with Molotov cocktails," said Koçiu.

She said that as a result of the violence, 11 officers were injured and received treatment at the hospital.

"There were repeated calls for the situation to calm down, and only after that were measures taken to disperse the crowds according to regulations."

Throwing Molotov cocktails and attacking institutions and police is not a protest. We should condemn the violence, its perpetrators, and not blame the police.

"I also want to clarify the case of the escort of a minor, it was found that he threw stones and hard objects at the police. The minor is 14 years old, at no time was he treated inhumanely. He was kept in separate premises. No one should use minors as a political shield," she said.
