The chairman of "Albania Becomes", Adriatik Lapaj, has "exploded" against Endri Shabani, whom he called a "traitor" and used as a "Trojan Horse" by the government, after the clash they had over the deputy's mandate.
Invited to the show "The Unexposed", Lapaj added that the movement led by him will continue and will not be demoralized by what happened to Shabani.
Excerpts from the studio conversation:
Adriatik Lapaj : What you just listed in chronological order shows what I have been shouting about for years, the capture of the system by two people, by a minority that has taken an entire people hostage. The whole battle is for this, for the undoing of this system that does not allow a person to compete and does not allow anyone to have aspirations not to align with any of these.
They have built a system that, as you saw, fragments the vote and secondly, since it receives many votes with closed lists, it does not allow you to compete, not even those forces that want to compete in the party do not allow it. We fought to expose this evil that has gripped the country. This is the mother of all evils, that after they attacked and slandered, we managed to get 64 thousand citizens to vote and have this vote counted, because there are also 16 thousand invalid votes. After this happened and it turned out beyond expectations, how could they allow a person who represented 80 thousand votes to go to Parliament. When they saw that they could not seduce the leaders of this movement, with their methods, they used the Trojan Horse, which has happened in history here for thousands of years, that there is always a traitor, to stop our mission for open lists. This is clear evidence that we should not be demoralized, but we should multiply our work since we have found the Achilles heel and that is where we need to strike. They do not allow even a single mandate. What would a mandate do? It was not the work of a mandate but to not allow the model of those who come through the competition and bring values. If our deputy elected through the competition were to go, he would be a deputy with a mandate that represented 80 thousand wills.
Ylli Rakipi : You say they used the Trojan Horse. Is it naive on your part to form a coalition with Shabani? Why did you need a coalition with a party that had competed before and had not had any significant results?
Adriatik Lapaj : We politically decided to listen to the citizen's will to extend a hand of cooperation to those subjects that were considered new. We extended a hand to all subjects. Of these, Nisma Thurje agreed to be part of it. Referring to the figures, it is as you say, but we did not start from calculating the figures but from the model. We extended a hand of cooperation to give the message that the Albania Movement, which is the third force in the polls, made an agreement with a force that comes out at 0.2%, for the standard and not for mathematics, to give a model that these people do not have sick egos, to sow a new seed of the competitive model. As you saw, I am sorry for this and I will never stop without apologizing. The subject in question had bad intentions. You would say, you should have predicted it. Yes, but I am not an ordinary politician nor educated in politics, or seasoned in old political parties. I and the team I represent, I am a guy who has been an activist in this country for 13 years, leading some of the biggest protests in these 13 years and I am a lawyer who has put the profession in the service of the public. You say naivety, now what is the mistake, that I extended the hand of cooperation? That we wanted to introduce the competition model? What we have done has been in the function of promoting the competition and one day it will open, even at the cost of what happened.
Ylli Rakipi: This is like in football, the coach must look ahead. Your quarrel, apart from the personal aspect and using Shaban's uncle to burn you, was the open lists and the fight for these lists ended in comedy. Worse than what Rama did with Berisha. They have made a code that even dogs won't eat, but you made even more ugly what Rama had made with Berisha. You served the Albanians even more rotten "apples".
Adriatik Lapaj : Figuratively, an apple took this job from the very beginning… You use the term “you”, you inadvertently put an equal sign. Did you see that example with the apple (of Shabani)? Do you know how many times I have seen it in my offices? He would come to me with apples…
Ylli Rakipi : No, that's not possible, did it come with apples?
Adriatik Lapaj : Do you know how many times I've heard this apple lecture? I mean, you can blame me for everything, but not why I believed in making a common cause for what I consider the most important in my public engagement. I'm for opening the race, when you see an ally coming, you agree. Now, Cain and Abel, brothers, but Cain killed Abel, betrayed him, back then. Why didn't we foresee it? Was I smarter than Gjergj Kastrioti or Jesus Christ?
Ylli Rakipi : You wanted to defeat Edi Rama and Berisha with their own weapons. Now who made this list for you?
Adriatik Lapaj : Endri Shabani brought it up as a proposal. This was an assassination attempt and the assassin has a name.
