Albania has positioned itself alongside Israel in the war against Iran, for well-known historical reasons, but also because our country shelters the mujahedeen, opponents of the Iranian regime.
The Mujahideen are sheltering in a camp in Manzë, Durrës, and from there they were also involved in cyber activity against the Tehran regime.
Expert Xhavit Shala from the Klan News studio said that Iran intended to strike Albania with missiles in 2023, specifically the Mujahideen camp in Manzë, Durrës, but this idea did not come to fruition.
But then Iran's cyber attack on Albania happened.
"This caused Iran to then take two steps; One remained a draft idea and the other became a reality. The first, the cyber attack that was one of the most severe, Albania had never experienced, was one of the most severe it has ever carried out, which violated the integrity of state data.
On the other hand, they prepared to strike Albania with missiles and drones. There are documents about this, there are newspaper publications. Especially in 2023 or earlier, an Iranian newspaper published the scheme of where they would strike, all these were warnings, they would strike in Manzë.
Meanwhile, this was later published as an article in a London newspaper.
"The situation was very serious. It remained a draft idea because in the end other communication channels could have been used that could have given the appropriate warnings," said expert Xhavit Shala.
Albania and Iran have severed diplomatic relations precisely because of the cyberattack.
