Criminal expert Ervin Karamuço gave new details about Dritan Rexhepi, the extradited person who has become known for his spectacular escapes and connections with international drug trafficking.
" Rexhepi got a big name for the spectacular escapes he made from prison, not only in Albania, but also in the countries of the European Union. He decided to connect with an international drug trafficking ring, exposing himself. There was a large network of traffickers behind him, but he was more wanted because of his great responsibilities and exposure ", said Karamuço in a direct link to the Review program in Euronews Albania.
The expert went on to emphasize the importance of regions related to cocaine trafficking.
" We know that cocaine is mainly produced in Peru, Bolivia and Colombia - three countries that account for 90% of world production. They are the first to buy pure cocaine and send it to Ecuador through land and air lines ," explained Karamuço.
According to him, Dritan Rexhepi has shown extraordinary ability to corrupt law enforcement bodies.
" This is an alarm, because he can affect the system and escape again ", he said.
Karamuço called for deeper investigations regarding Rexhepi's connections, which according to him also include the state administration and Albanian politicians.
" This character is not unknown for his connections, on the contrary, he has also had contacts with the state administration, the State Police and individuals of Albanian politics. The prosecution must investigate these connections, determine where they are and at what level they are located. We need to consider whether these connections still hold sway today, as well as the courts that have shown leniency and turned a blind eye. I expect him to reveal the truth about Jan Prenga's case and show where the victim's body is hidden ," said Karamuço.
