The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, Chief Prosecutor Olsjan Çela and the head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, had a meeting this morning with diplomats accredited in Tirana, where the focus was on the May 11 elections and the follow-up of procedures for the fight against electoral crime.

The meeting, held at the French Embassy in Tirana, was attended by the ambassadors of France, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Great Britain and the US Chargé d'Affaires.

The meeting was also attended by the representative of the European Union and the head of the ODIHR Observer Mission, Lamberto Zannier.

It is learned that the diplomats were briefed on details regarding the progress of the electoral process, cooperation between institutions in the context of the investigation of electoral crime, and the bringing to justice of those responsible.

According to reports, during the meeting, the head of SPAK and the Chief Prosecutor informed the diplomats about the steps they are taking against electoral crime, denunciations, treatments, and cooperation between the Special Prosecution Office and the District Prosecutors' Offices.

In this context, it is learned that Dumani and Çela have informed the ambassadors about the mechanisms being followed for the investigation and subsequent bringing to court of persons suspected of electoral crimes. In this context, SPAK is investigating 39 files related to the May 11 elections, while many cases are being followed by the District Prosecutor's Offices, in cooperation with the Special Prosecutor's Office. 

The meeting emphasized inter-institutional cooperation, but also with international partners, in combating electoral crime. It is reported that the diplomats requested that all issues related to electoral crime be investigated promptly and transparently, as a way to increase public trust in justice institutions.

From the reports, the head of the CEC informed the diplomats about the steps that were followed from the initial moment until the end of the vote counting process. In this context, there was a discussion on the follow-up to the end of any complaint that will be submitted to the CEC and other institutions related to the electoral process.
