The rector of the Fan Noli University of Korça, Dhimitër Bello, has informed that the senate of this university has only decided the merger of the university of Korçë with that of Tirana, this decision, according to him, was voted 100% by the pedagogues of this senate.
In a press conference, Bello says that the logo of the University of Korça will remain despite the merger with the University of Tirana.
According to him, this decision was made due to the serious situation created at the University of Korça, which from year to year had a smaller number of students.
In the following, Bello stated that during this period all efforts were made for agreement and internationalization of this university, but so far no such thing has been achieved.
Under these conditions, the only solution according to the senate was to merge with the University of Tirana.
Asked about the decision-making that this university will lack, Bello said that in the senate of the university of Tirana there will also be representatives of the university of Korça.
While in relation to the preservation of the existing programs and the retention of all lecturers, the rector has not ruled out the possibility of lecturers' fear of having to face the level of Tirana's lecturers and also with foreign lecturers in case of internationalization.
