Former Prime Minister Fatos Nano, who passed away on Friday afternoon at the age of 73, will be escorted to his final resting place today with a state funeral ceremony.
The tributes to the historic leader of the socialists, which will be held at the Palace of Congresses, have been divided into two time slots. Public tributes will take place from 08:30 to 11:00.
After the public tributes, at 11:15, tributes from state figures and the Diplomatic Corps will take place.
According to reports, there are expected to be two speeches at this ceremony: one from a family member and the other from Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Meanwhile, the opposition will be represented at the state ceremony by the Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Flamur Noka.
The farewell funeral ceremony will begin at 12:00, in the presence of high state authorities and diplomatic representatives.
After the end of the state ceremony, the funeral procession will accompany the body of the deceased to the final resting place, in a private family ceremony.

11:00 – End of public tributes
11:15 – Tributes from state dignitaries and the Diplomatic Corps;
12:00 – Farewell funeral ceremony, in the presence of high state authorities and representatives of the Diplomatic Corps.
After the end of the state ceremony, the funeral procession will accompany the body of the deceased to the final resting place, in a private family ceremony.
The television signal of the entire ceremony will be provided by the central control room and will be broadcast live on the official platforms on Facebook and YouTube.
Photographers will have their own dedicated position in a special corner of the Hall of the Congress Palace.
