The French Ambassador to Albania, Catherine Suard, during an official visit to Korça, has issued a strong political statement that reinforces international support for SPAK and the justice reforms in the country. Speaking to the media, Suard stressed that France and the European Union see SPAK as “the emblematic result of the Albanian justice reform” and as an institution that has now entered the phase of full cooperation with the judicial systems of EU countries.
" SPAK is an extraordinary tool that has developed greatly and today provides an important indicator of our justice systems. It is not just an institution that receives information from abroad, but is now a full partner in international judicial cooperation ," said the French ambassador, adding that this result also depends on the direction the institution takes after the recent changes at the head of SPAK.
Regarding the latest Council of Europe report on Albania, Seward praised it as “very positive” and as clear evidence of the progress the country has made. “ The report was positive and showed the unprecedented progress that has been made so far. What is clear is that this approach must continue. Reforms must be encouraged and the law must be implemented in practice. Albania is capable of achieving its objectives and we are available to help ,” she stressed.
The French ambassador also touched on the issue of gender equality, emphasizing that “non-discrimination and gender equality are fundamental values of the European Union and of French diplomacy.” According to her, any reform must protect human rights and guarantee respect for every citizen, regardless of affiliation or gender.
