After more than 9 hours, the interview of 14 candidates in the race for the position of Director of the State Police has been completed. Now the candidates will be ranked according to points, but the final decision belongs to Minister Besfort Lamallari.
The latter, within 48 hours, will propose to the Council of Ministers the selected name, which is not necessarily the one with the maximum points. The competition, which attracted interest from district leaders and security academics, aims to fill the position left vacant by the resignation of Ilir Proda. Currently, the State Police is temporarily led by Sokol Bizhga.
The process is also being closely followed by international partners, including the ICITAP and EU4LEA missions, as well as representatives of the European Union and the United States, in the role of observers, an element that aims to increase the credibility and transparency of the procedure.
