Journalist Fatos Mahmutaj commented on the latest political developments in the country during an interview on the "Last Hour" show on ABC News, focusing particularly on the trial in The Hague against former KLA leaders and the current situation in Albanian politics.
Speaking about the trial of former KLA leaders, Mahmutaj stated that the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has taken a stance against the KLA and accused it of serious political responsibilities in the past.
"Berisha should have corrected the evils he himself did to the KLA. Not only does he not do it, but he continues without setting any limits to his evil," he said.
Following the interview, the journalist made strong accusations, stating that Berisha had a role in supplying Slobodan Milosevic's military machinery and that, according to him, he had institutionalized theft in Albania.
Mahmutaj also commented on MP Gazment Bardhi's statements regarding Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, describing them as politically irresponsible.
"A case is like this, the investigation starts, procedures are carried out. The investigation has a deadline and at the request of the Prosecution it can be extended for 3 years. The Prosecution seeks guilt or innocence, then the court seeks a sentence of years. But Gaz Bardhi has given this sentence without starting the criminal case. These people cannot dictate justice. SPAK, to be honest, I have many reservations about SPAK, as it has sharpened its sword on the left, but the level of crimes must be looked at. Berisha has killed people in the middle of the square. It is Berisha's son in Gërdec who was killed. It is Berisha who is personally accused of '97, for the terrible crimes of '97. He is accused of pyramid schemes," he said.
