Shkëlzen Berisha has arrived at the Special Court to testify in the trial against Fatmir Mediu for the "Gërdeci" file.

GJKKO has called Shkëlzen Berisha to testify regarding the fax that Aldo Bumçi sent to Fatmir Mediu with the note "for Shkëlzen Berisha".

"I will speak when I get out", said Berisha as he entered the premises of GJKKO where the next court session will be held.

On December 14, Shkëlzen Berisha did not appear in the Special Court to testify in the trial for the Gërdec tragedy.

The court said that the witness had not heard about the summons, while the prosecutor of the case, Klodian Braho, explained that the notice was sent to the old address of the son of the former prime minister.

He informed the court about Shkëlzen Berisha's new address where he had answered at the time of questioning during the preliminary investigations in January 2023.

The court said that the notification for the witness will be repeated at the new address and Shkëlzen Berisha will be requested at the next hearing (December 27), alongside the next witnesses who according to the ordinal number on the list are Luan Hoxha, former Chief of Staff and Ylli Pinari, former director of the MEICO company.

The call of Shkëlzen Berisha in the same session with Aldo Bumçi is related to the fax that the latter sent to the Minister of Defense of the time, Fatmir Mediu, with the note "for Shkëlzen Berisha", in the upper part of the document on the left side.

In addition to this document, the son of the former prime minister is also expected to be questioned about meetings with the ministers of the time in the Berisha government and a phone call with Fatmir Mediu immediately after the explosion in Gërdec, where 26 people lost their lives and over 300 were injured.

The fax from 2007, where Shkëlzen Berisha's name is written, was the Ministry of Justice's approval opinion for the draft government decision prepared by the Ministry of Defense, for the dismantling of the ammunition in Gërdec. On January 26, 2023, Shkëlzen Berisha and Aldo Bumçi were also questioned during preliminary investigations by the prosecution, while in court they close the first list of 52 witnesses.
