"Greece went too far with interference in justice", the lawyer:

Lawyer Jordan Daci has given details about the closing of the investigations and the trial for the file of Fredi Beleri, the candidate elected as mayor of Himara in the May 14 elections.

Invited to Abcnews, Daci stated that regarding the progress of the case, he sees it as impossible to suspend it, since Beleri himself has addressed the court several times for changing the security measure.

Among other things, the lawyer emphasized that, unfortunately, in our country since 1990, there have been many electoral crimes, so in the case of Beler, the criminal policy has been strengthened in this direction.

"The most convincing demand is to be sent to trial, and I consider it impossible to suspend, as the court has been approached several times for a change in the measure. No one should be satisfied by the conviction of a candidate for mayor, and I hope that the gentleman will receive justice and on the other hand there is a disadvantage because Albania from '90 until today has been faced with electoral crime and that have not been convicted and criminal policy this time it is tougher than a normal policy if it were at another time. It is certain that if he is found guilty, he will receive more than the provision provides, and if he is not found guilty, it is problematic in terms of the electoral code. If the government made any move, he could lose the chance to be a candidate. We will not know the fate of Beler or the area without the decision of the Appeal.he said.

Among other things, he has emphasized that Greece has gone too far with its interventions regarding the Beler issue, since according to him, Albanian justice, even though it has problems, is accepted by the EU.

Regarding DASH's reaction, he emphasized that he had two messages, one for Athens, which overreacted, and one for the court regarding the decision on Beleri.

"The court in the preliminary session, as it is today, does not decide on guilt or representation, but whether or not the case is being tried. I find it almost impossible for the judge of this session to have a judgment different from the others. This is an issue that does not depend on Albania and I don't think that not only Fred but none of us is strong enough to break relations with a neighboring country.

Greece's interventions from a diplomatic point of view have gone too far, we are used to harsh rhetoric with each other, but now the Albanians no longer have disagreements with the Greeks, DASH's statement is what gives what it should be that this is an issue that belongs to Albania, since and why there are problems with the justice system in our country, it is acceptable by the EU. We limit the use of detention and it is a standard followed for years and has also been upheld by the European Court of Human Rights. Another option could have been seen in house arrest or a free trial, but it is the court that makes the decision. DASH has given two messages to Greece that it should be more prudent in what it says and to our court regarding the decision", said Daci.
