The former prosecutor of Tirana, Elizabeta Imeraj, has spoken about the reopening of the file of 'January 21', after the uncle and wife of Aleks Nika testified yesterday, while Ndrea Predi, the former commander of the Guard, was also called today.
The head of the Euro-Atlantic Democrats, Lulzim Basha, has stated that he is ready to be interrogated regarding the incident of January 21, for which the former prosecutor said that she hopes that he will become an accomplice of justice.
"The cases that have regrets are the most difficult cases, because the words said by these people must be matched with other evidence. We hope that someone will become an associate of justice, even Mr. Basha, since he showed himself ready to be interrogated" , she said to "Report TV".
Imeraj said that SPAK can also call the head of PD Sali Berisha even though the latter is under arrest in prison, as something like this is not prohibited.
"There is already a group that will decide who will be interrogated. There is a legal framework that dictates how protests should be conducted and how a protesting crowd should be responded to. It is a whole framework that will be studied, what plan of measures was taken and who were the people who took that plan of measures and if there was an order from whom this order was given. What is in the hands of the prosecution is how it was drafted and how it was implemented and whether there was an element related to any order or not. The prosecution can also interrogate persons who are in prison custody when there is a need to interrogate them, even by taking them to the offices of the prosecution. There is no stopping to interrogate," added the former prosecutor.
For the former prosecutor of Tirana, if the investigative actions will be intensive on the part of the prosecutors, it will take no more than 6 months.
"With intensive investigative actions I cannot take more than 6 months and there is increased interest in this case, as the public is more than interested to know what happened," she said.
