Albania is an uncontrolled market for food, most of which comes from imports, while state control is non-existent, allowing businesses to endanger the health of consumers.
Journalists invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV said that the company that poisoned the students of Nikolin Jaka's "Sori-AL" Security Academy has no tracking system, and there are many others like it.
" This company does not have a tracking system. How many don't? We don't have a certificate and we don't know what products we eat. We have had several actions where we have seen how labels are falsified. It is killing us. It is not a problem that fortunately saved 56 students. It goes to malnutrition and ends up in the hospital. In cases when we import, we do not know what product has entered the country ," said Klodiana Lala.
" Food safety and the environment are the last two chapters that can be closed if Albania ever joins the EU. The quality is the weakest in the region, not to mention the EU. Some businessmen have seized it and are not letting it go. Reforms are promised, the law has been changed, millions of euros have been given, we have poisoning, we do not know what we eat. If we look at health diseases, those caused by malnutrition are on the rise. We have not sought it nor have we fought it, if before we came from a mentality that we did not have enough to eat, now no one gives a damn ," added Ola Xama.
