The court of Vlora decided today to divide the file for the event that happened in August 2022 in Himarë, where the police officer Arjan Tase collided to death with the boat of 7-year-old Jonada Avdia who was bathing on the seashore.
The court has decided that Arjan Tase, the former police officer who caused the tragedy, will be tried separately from the other 8 police officers of Himara who are accused of abuse of duty.
Ismet Advia, the grandfather of the 7-year-old girl, demands justice and casts doubt that the division of the process is intended to ease the persons responsible for this tragedy.
"After this ordeal, we managed to hold a court session. The separation is required to facilitate as much as possible the parties who in a coordination together. Nothing happened by chance. All those people who are accused and are outside the bars and are being pursued are state employees who had certain functions to respect the rules on the beach of Himara. Of course, their lawyers are asking for relief. They go as far as these people who have been in charge of the state and have received their salary to ensure the lives of people or of my Jonada, who remained in the propellers of the engines of these people who run this police station," he told the media .
Police officer Arjan Tase is not the only one responsible for Ismet Avdina.
"Despite the fact that he is the author of the crime, all those who were around him are the main ones responsible for this tragedy. I ask for the support of the media because, as the lawyer said, it is not only about my niece Jonada who fell into the engines of a state and a government that takes salaries from our taxes but that it does not happen again in Albania. A message must be sent that those who are paid with our taxes protect this people", Avdia said.
