The former mayor of Durrës, Vangjush Dako, was this Thursday at the next session held at GJKKO. After the end of the session, Dako said that he requested a shortened trial.
" There are no more facts, so we asked for a summary judgment ," he said as he left.
The Special Court will say in the session of July 8, whether or not it will accept the requests for summary judgment made by the former mayor Dako, Fiqiri Farruku and Adrian Bulku.
On the other hand, judge Elsa Ulliri dismissed the request of some of the other accused for the declaration of incompetence and for sending the case for trial to the Court of Durrës. Meanwhile, prosecutor Sotir Kllapi asked for the dismissal of the request since their actions are related.
Under these conditions, Judge Ulliri withdrew to express herself in the next session, regarding the requests for abbreviated trial and for the division of the case. After the end of the session, Vangjush Dako stated that he requested a shortened trial as there is no new evidence and the case can be resolved at this stage.
We remind you that Dako was arrested on June 6 by order of the Special Prosecutor's Office with suspicions that he abused his duty in two cases. The first concerns the granting of permission for the construction of a building in Durrës in violation of the law, and the other issue with the tender for the coastal development project, which increased its value 10-fold.
In total, together with Dako, 10 arrest warrants were issued, 7 of which with prison arrest and 3 under house arrest. GJKKO, after considering the request of the builder of the building that was damaged by the November 2019 earthquake, Fiqiri Farruku, for easing the security measure, decided to move him from "Prison Arrest" to "House Arrest".
