Meteorologist Lajda Porja spoke about the heat and high temperatures that have engulfed the country.
She said that only next week meteorologists expect a cooling of the weather, but it will only last for a few days. Porja warns of another heat wave, with temperatures higher than the first wave.
"The 6-degree drop in temperatures will be felt in our country as well. But the days with cool weather will not last long. Another heat wave, with temperatures even higher than the first wave, will once again engulf the European continent ," Porja told "A2 CNN."
In this unusual summer, regarding the duration of extreme temperatures, doctors advise citizens, but also foreign tourists visiting Albania, to avoid going out during peak hours, to stay in cool environments and to consume as much water as possible.
Skënder Brataj, head of the National Emergency, said that every day 1,800 citizens seek emergency assistance for problems caused by the heat.
"Officially, there are no victims from the heat in our country, but high temperatures can cause heart attacks and strokes. Health authorities call for caution in these temperatures, especially for children and the chronically ill. Meanwhile, for vacationers who have headed to coastal areas, 36 summer health centers are on standby," he said.
