IKMT has returned to Theth again, for the demolition of 35 more unauthorized buildings.
This is the second action carried out in this area, after the one in July, when around 70 other buildings were demolished.
Thethi, declared a national park and one of the main tourist destinations in the north, has long been under the attention of authorities due to unauthorized construction.
In July 2025, Prime Minister Edi Rama, through IKMT, signaled the demolition of the spaces occupied by him in areas of Albania and especially in Theth.
Thethi has been at the center of attention for weeks, with dozens of buildings being demolished and several incidents between residents, the IKMT, and the State Police.
We recall that the police and IKMT action to demolish illegal constructions in Theth has met with resistance from Theth residents. On July 7, IKMT bulldozers and excavators landed in the tourist village, removing and demolishing recently built cabins.
But the action has met with resistance from residents. In the photo, it appears that a group of residents are not allowing the demolition of the buildings, declaring: "We are on our land." Meanwhile, protests have also been organized.
The placement of 10 cabins in one of the symbolic areas of Theth seems to have brought about a clash between the government and the judiciary, but also a wide-ranging action in Theth. As part of the action announced by the prime minister to free up public spaces, he took Theth as an example, saying that a judge had not initiated criminal proceedings for an unauthorized “tourist village.”
Regarding this issue, there were retorts between him and the Shkodra Prosecutor's Office, while IKMT intervened and removed the booths, but the action has also been extended to other buildings, irritating the residents.
