The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has filed a request for the revocation of security measures. This request will be reviewed on September 19, by a panel composed of judge Irena Gjoka.
Meanwhile, on October 9, in a consultation room at the High Court, the recourse made by Ilir Meta for the security measure, which was imposed on him about a year ago by the Special Court and continues to be left in force until now by the justice institutions to which he appealed, will be reviewed.
The appeal by the Freedom Party leader comes after the recent decision by the Special Court of Appeals, which left his security measure unchanged.
Meanwhile, we remind you that the first preliminary hearing for former President Ilir Meta, his ex-wife, Monika Kryemadhi, and the three others will take place on September 25th and the file will be reviewed by Judge Irena Gjoka. She has the power to determine whether to pass the file for trial, return it back to SPAK, or discontinue the investigation.
On August 29, the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime closed the investigation and brought Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi to trial. They face three charges: passive corruption, money laundering, and failure to declare assets.
According to SPAK, after the investigations, several corruption schemes and the use of political power were discovered. Three other people were also sent for trial. Meanwhile, on September 8, the Special Court of Appeals rejected the request of Ilir Meta, who requested his release from prison.
