10 out of 40 Gjadri migrants isolated in cells; they caused chaos in the camp

Authorities have isolated 10 of the 40 migrants accommodated in the Gjadri camp, which now functions as a CPR, in specially built cells, housing those who have been deported or denied asylum by Italy and are awaiting repatriation to their countries of origin.

The decision to isolate the 10 migrants came after the chaos caused in the camp, where 20 of the 40 accommodated people began to destroy the center's infrastructure during a revolt.

Three of them even caused themselves injuries with cutting tools, mainly glass, while previously they had broken the windows of the rooms where they were staying.

Fortunately, none of the injuries were serious. Meanwhile, one of the migrants whose deportation order was overturned has already returned to Italy.

Italian law applies in the Gjadri camp, as the personnel belong to the Italian authorities, including maintaining security inside the camp, or within the perimeter.

The opposition and several organizations that protect the rights of immigrants in Italy have opposed the establishment of the immigrant camp in Gjadra and the subsequent legal changes by Italy to convert the reception center into a CPR.

The opposition in Italy has stated that this move by the Meloni Government is being made to justify the millions of euros that have been used for the entire migrant transfer operation.
