Ervin Resuli, President of the Veterinary Order, spoke today on "Today, Live in Albania" about a shipment of peppers coming from Albania that was above the permitted pesticide limit. Resuli said that it was the EU's RAFT monitoring system that caught the shipment.
The President of the Order said that the ministry and the AKU have no official announcement on this issue and, according to him, this is alarming.
"According to the EU RAFT monitoring system, in Croatia it has been found that a shipment of peppers was above the norms and with permitted pesticides. What makes the situation alarming is that, if we check the official website of the Ministry of Agriculture or the AKU, where we as consumers should be informed about which company it is or who these peppers are, citizens or consumers should not withdraw them from the market. In fact, there is no information and therefore the help of the media was needed to call on the institution, to make an official call, so that it does not spread and panic does not occur, but also to have dedicated information for the consumer, who is not harmed by these pesticides above the norms, such as these vegetables, these peppers", said the President of the Veterinary Order.
On the other hand, Resuli underlined that the Ministry of Agriculture has not reacted, according to him, because it is an electoral campaign, not because it will not spread panic. He pointed out that, thanks to the media, the scandal that was revealed a few days ago with salmonella meat would not have been found.
"The Ministry of Agriculture, apparently, is in an electoral campaign and has no focus on consumer protection. It has absolutely nothing to do with the panic line. Thanks to the media, the recording was also made and the entire situation was highlighted, for which we avoided or you together avoided the continued consumption of this fillet, which could have serious consequences," said Resuli.
